Editorial Policy

CalcGrids is committed to providing accurate, clearly explained, and honestly presented calculation tools. This page describes the standards we apply to formulas, examples, sources, and content.

Formula Verification

Every calculator uses a specific, named formula. Before publishing, we verify that:

  • The formula is correctly implemented in the calculator code
  • The worked example on the page produces the same result as the calculator for the same inputs
  • The formula description on the page accurately describes what the calculator computes

Worked Examples

Worked examples are generated by running specific inputs through the same calculation logic used by the calculator. They are not written independently — they are derived from the code. This means the example and the calculator cannot produce different results for the same inputs.

If you find a discrepancy, please report it. We will investigate and correct it.

Sources

We cite authoritative sources for formulas and standards where applicable. Sources include:

  • Peer-reviewed scientific literature for health and nutrition equations
  • International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and NIST for unit conversion factors
  • European Central Bank (via Frankfurter API) for currency reference rates
  • Established financial mathematics references for loan, mortgage, and investment formulas

We do not invent sources. If a source is cited, it is a real, verifiable reference.

Health Content

Health calculators (BMI, BMR, TDEE, calorie needs, body fat) use established population-average equations. All health calculator pages include a clear disclaimer that results are informational estimates and not a medical diagnosis or substitute for professional medical advice.

We do not make clinical claims. We do not suggest that calculator results should be used to diagnose, treat, or manage any medical condition.

Financial Content

Financial calculators use standard mathematical formulas. All financial calculator pages include a clear disclaimer that results are estimates and not personalised financial advice. We do not recommend specific financial products, lenders, or investment strategies.

Corrections

If a formula, result, or worked example is found to be incorrect, we will correct it promptly. Corrections are applied to the calculator code and the page content together so they remain consistent.

To report an error, contact us at [email protected] with the calculator name, inputs, result received, and expected result.

Author and Reviewer Information

CalcGrids calculator content is produced and reviewed internally. We do not attribute content to invented experts, fabricated credentials, or unnamed third-party reviewers. If specific authorship or review attribution is added in future, it will reflect real individuals with verifiable qualifications.
